Threat of Ice Storm Looms!
Worse Than the Storm of 1991!
The End is Nigh!
These have been the headlines of the past four days for Duluth's impending death storm. On Monday morning I woke up and yep, just as predicted, it started raining about 8:30 A.M. The rain was supposed to hit the ground and the trees and the houses and instantly turn to ice. And then the wind was to come off Lake Superior and blow all the trees down, which would tear all the power lines down, rendering the whole town useless.
The town prepared. Schools closed. Libraries closed. Retail stores closed. Duluthians take the threat of ice very seriously - people stocked up and hunkered down. And...
And nothing. This morning it's 37 degrees and looks like this:
I'm disappointed. I was ready for something spectacular. The least Mother Nature could give us is some white snow.
