Cairns of Springtime

Late March, along the beach at Park Point, the first cairn I have ever seen made of ice.

One week later, nature brought us some glass sculptures in the sand.

And the St. Louis River gushing through Jay Cooke State Park, the surest sign that spring is coming...right after the foot of snow expected tomorrow.

  1. Incredible. I presume someone with moxey and guts built that cairn of ice slabs.

  2. Beautiful pictures. I admire your gumption - living on a boat, traversing the great lakes and living in ice. I met you only once before you and Mark left Chicago. Mark sent us a note and listed your blog so I thought I would check it out and say "Hi!" to both of you. I have enjoyed reading your blogs. Hope you are both very happy and doing well!
